MAY/JUNE 2005

Sorry to all the faithful for the delay in getting the latest news up! So, with no further delay, heres the lowdown.....

Detroit, Saturday May 14th w/ Easy Action @ The Magic Stick
What a great gig! First off a big thanks to Easy and Peter Davis @ Creature Booking for getting us on this bill. Detroit has a very cool music scene happening, one of the many venues to catch live music at is the Majestic Theater (where Harry Whodini did his final trick) which houses several locations to eat, drink, bowl, dance, and of course catch a live band or two....or three.... The same night Decapitado! played we had several other shows going on in this happening venue... The Doves played in one location, Mercury Rev played another and Easy Action (featuring John Brannan, ex-Laughing Hyenas/Negative Approach), Decapitado! and The Pussy Pirates played in yet another local, all under the same roof! There were 300 people payed or more @ the Easy/Decap show, and lines of people stretched around the block waiting to get in to the other shows as well... like I said "happening live music scene!" Decapitado! is currently working on a return trip to Detroit w/ a gig @ The Lager House which is a venue many people were eager to tell the boys about as they exited the stage of the Magic Stick. Decap made many new fans/friends and look forward to our return to Detroit in the coming months.

Friday May 20th saw Decapitado! take on the gigantic Luau Club in Wausau Wisconsin w/ Planet of 9. Decapitado! rolled into town just in time to set up and throw down a rippin' set of pure fire... after a long ride thru the Wisconsin heartland and a few wrong turns nothing could have been better except for a few beers that flowed freely from Paula and the lovely bartenders. Many thanks to Planet of 9 for taking the time to bring the Decap boys to the area not once, but twice! The next night Saturday May 21st saw Decapitado! playing Four Stools Short in Wisconsin Rapids (Dan thanked the audience for their attendance and promised to return to "Grand Rapids" soon! ooops!!...hello Cleveland!), man can those guys draw a crowd! Also on the bill was our very good friends from Hartford/Slinger/West Bend: Living (fucking) Dred! Its so nice to play w/ a band like Living Dred, who are excited about what they do and so enthused w/ being creative and original......you guys are the coolest! Anyway, a great time was had by all and we look forward to rocking Four Stools Short in Wisconsin Rapids again! Thanks for the great weekend Planet of 9! You guys also RULE!

That brings us to June, where much has been happening! Lets start with the live gigs. Unfortunately the Decapitado!/All the Pretty Horses gig in Eau Claire Wi @ The Stones Throw on Friday June 10th had to be cancelled and is being rescheduled as I write, check the "SHOWS" page for current updates. Our next show w/ Croatan @ Vnuks in Cudahy on Saturday June 11th on the other hand was a complete rocker, if you missed it, dont feel too bad, just come next time and support the local cause, like Ive said before, it is all "our music scene" and its up to all of us to support it! Toby Wong opened the night w/ a great set of AC/DC fueled guitar riffs covered in sheer punk attitude....way cool! We look forward to watching/listening to these guys progress in the coming months.... Decapitado! had a great time running some new tunes and old faves by the appreciative audience. Its always nice to play on a big stage w/ cool lights and a great pa system... thanks Big Dave! Croatan from Cincinnati Ohio finished the night and man did they pour it on thick and heavy, what a great band! Incase you are unaware Croatan is a two piece outfit w/ Jenny playing guitar and singing and Mark playing the drums like some kind of Tasmanian Devil fueled on acid jazz... these two rock! A great mix of punk and metal, we hope to bring them back to town in the coming months, once again watch the "SHOWS" page for updates. Croatan also promises to bring Decapitado! to Cinnci and possibly Lexington Kentucky in the near future....

Friday June 24th saw a very amazing thing happen..... our friends Easy Action from Detroit came to town (sort of!) and put on a inspiring set of palm sweating, fire dripping rock!! If you missed this one , well then, you really missed a great one! First off let me thank Scotty and his very kind staff (including the beautiful bartenders) @ the Underground Saloon in Hartford Wi for making this event happen! In the coming months look for Totimoshi from Oakland CA., Zebulon Pike from Minneapolis, Yakuza from Chicago, Floating Face Down, Nailwounds and many others to play cool venues near (or far from) you! Okay, on to the Easy Action/Decapitado!/Living Dred show @ the underground saloon. The Living Dred boys eagerly gave up their headlining gig to open for Easy Action and Decapitado! as they are also kin to the same guild of heavy, original rock, in which part of what we all believe in is the next show and to see/hear the next band, and that simply is what makes all our lives (collectively as bands) a little more enjoyable and passionate! The Dred boys threw down one of the best sets I have ever had the pleasure of seeing/hearing, they only paused between songs long enough for a quick sip of beer and then crashed fiercely into their next tune. Living Dred play a great mix of punk/metal/reggae not heard since the demise of my beloved Bad Brains... do yourself a favor and check out their next show, you will not be disappointed! They are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut CD (recorded and mixed by our own Charles Meyer @ his "Music Worth Hearing Studios" in downtown West Bend WI.) Their cover of a Misfits song brought Easy Actions John Brannan to the front row where I thought he would jump in and sing it w/ them, but he only grinned from ear to ear, probably remembering how he and Negative Approach opened for his old pals the Misfits back in the day.......

Decapitado! had a great set and an awesome response from the audience that included many new faces that actually made the pilgrimage from Milwaukee to Hartford. Thank you so much for coming out to the gig you all... I know its a long drive and it was hot as hell and raining to boot, but seeing you all( Floating Face Down, Gothic Body Tattoo mastermind and killer artist Jon Hill and co. and the Decap/Living Dred regulars, plus all the new faces) makes it all worth while! Thanks again for coming, YOU make this all totally worth while and fun for us!

Easy Action said that this was the best and most well attended show they have ever played in Milwaukee.... I reminded them that they weren't even in Milwuakee... damn, isn't that sad! None the less Easy totally set fire to the Underground Saloon, and left us feeling completely exhausted and satisfied.... damn what a great band... so pure and uncompromising... and so very very much the "friends of rock and roll" that they claim to be. Check out their latest release on Reptilian Records, CD and vinyl (vinyl ...? now thats rock n roll!) and see/hear for yourself! Thanks again to all who attended, Scotty and staff, and the bands for taking the time to put on a great show!

In other news the OMCD#1 is out now... brought to you by onmilwaukee.com. Decapitado! recorded the song "Muzzle" (the Vampire Song) @ Music Worth Hearing Studios and is very proud to be part of this project! This CD showcases some of the best music Milwaukee has to offer and crosses many lines and genres... we are very pleased to share the CD w/ Paul Cebar and the Milwuakeeans, ifIihadahifi, the Yell Leaders, Black Elephant, Temper Temper, Eric Blowtorch as well as many others. This project is only #1 with another CD already in the works, onMilwaukee.com hopes to release 2 OMCDs every year... so pay attention, and support this vital music source here in our very own city, once again it is all " our music scene" so make the most of it. Thanks to Bobby Tanzilo and the staff @ onMilwaukee.com for all their help, support and for the great OMCD and the OMCD release party @ the Hi Hat Garage! Much success to you and yours! Also, the OMCD is the ONLY place you will be able to get the Decapitado! song "Muzzle".... go get yours now!!!

Still a few more details to spill out: Nailwounds just completed a 4 song demo, recorded @ "music Worth Hearing Studios" to be released shortly, sounds killer and is sure to bring them many gigs and new fans in the coming months... also it is still rumored that Floating Face Down is sniffing around Music Worth Hearing Studios in hopes of recording some of their primal screams... lets get busy guys, I need a CD so I can start my day w/ your brutal assault! I can hardly wait to hear what they record, it should be astounding! Also check out the new Floating Face Down T-shirts ....way cool! www.floatingfacedown.com

And one more thing, Decapitado! has new T-shirts as well. With a killer new logo done by our friend Jon Hill @ Gothic Body Tattoo and a new version of the head choppers on the back, we should have photos of them up on the "PRODUCT" page soon, as well as pay pal so all you out of towners can get your new t-shirt!

Work on the latest Decapitado! CD continues @ Music Worth Hearing Studios.... we hope far a fall release.

See you next month!

APRIL 2005

April was another busy month for the Decapitado crew! The boys cut
their first song together for inclusion on the onmilwaukee.com cd
sampler due out later this summer. The name of the song Decapitado
recorded is "Muzzle"(the vampire song) and yes they recorded it in
drummer Charles Meyers "Music Worth Hearing" studio! The band are
thrilled with the recording and with being included on the sampler, big
shout out and "thank you" to Bobby Tanzilo @ onmilwaukee.com for his
help and support with this project! Watch this space for more info
about upcoming releases from the band as demo work goes on.... As long
as were talking about Music Worth Hearing we find great excitement in
the fact that Living Dred has been recording w/ Charles and the end
results, although unfinished at press time, are enough to blow your
front door down! Word is spreading fast among our band friends about
the great sounds being produced by Charles and his studio. It looks as
though Floating Face Down might be doing some tracking at Music Worth
Hearing Studio soon as well as Nail Wounds. Speaking of Floating Face
Down, they are about ready to split this city wide open with their
fierce onslaught, catch them while you can still get up close and
personal, were wagering that they will be headlining Ozzfest next year!
Decapitado found great gigs in the form of Onopa Brewery w/ Irock Z and
Dirty Pawz, they also made a road trip to Wausau to play the Cabaret
and to hang w/ new found friends Bevl who put on a great show and made
the Decap boys feel right at home...look for Bevl live here in
Milwaukee and surrounding area in the coming months! Also on the agenda
was the Underground Saloon in Slinger.... or is it Hartford...? Well,
its somewhere out in that general direction...it seems strange to drive
to the middle of a cornfield to hear and play live music for an always
enthusiastic packed house... but hey, if that is where the music is
wanted and appreciated, by all means count us in! We look forward to
many more gigs at the Underground Saloon, and a big thanks as always to
Living Dred for setting up the killer show and rockin' the house.
Decapitado had another chance to play to the all ages crowd in West
Bend at the Jansen Park facility. This is the 2nd time the boys have
played Jansen Park and judging from the response there will be many
more such gigs in the future, watch the "shows" page for more info.
Also included on the bill for Jansen Park were a very young but very
promising band Nail Wounds. Other bands on the bill were Left Over
World, Living Fucking Dred!, Floating Face Down, Rictus Grin, and
Shallow Ground... a great time was had by all!
Still in the works is the St. Valentines Day Massacre live recording
done by Bill Stace and his Walls Have Ears Studio. The band has been
listening to rough mixes, and are getting set to do a proper mix down
with a cd to be released soon there after, tentatively titled "Alive at
the Massacre". You can find a selection of photos from the St
Valentines Day Massacre on our "sights" page.
Look for Decapitado to break out of Wisconsin and northern Illinois
this summer and fall with gigs coming in Detroit Michigan, Minneapolis
and Cedar Falls Iowa, with many more gigs in the works, possibly even a
small East Coast tour... were serious this time! Also in the works are
local gigs at Vnuks in Cudahy, Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau, Eau Claire,
Stevens Point and Madison, check the shows page over and over for more
info!

FEBRUARY/MARCH 2005
February was a very busy month for decapitado, Dan traveled to N.Y.C.
and did some recording with a band/project called "Scars" for an
upcoming PiL tribute cd. the recording was done @: thebuddyproject.com
in Queens New York and mixed by audio genieous Peter Auslan who also
did the outstanding guitar playing on the track. Other players on the
track include Tommy Price, from Billy Idols band and current Joan Jett
drummer, and of course Ms. Greta Brinkman on bass guitar... check
www.bassgoddessgreta.com for her outstanding credentials which include
L7 and the Debbie Harry band! The track is "Seattle" from the "Happy?"
record and it will be released by Martin Atkins on his "Invisible"
lable out of Chicago.
The "St. Valentines Day Massacre" at the Miramar Theatre went down
without a single sour note or bad attitude! The three day fest was
formed and operated by our friend and Decapitados own Dan
Kubinski, there will be some photos posted on our "sites" page soon.
With the great responce we had from the press, the bands and the
attendies, we hope to repeat next Valentines Day. A big "thankyou" goes
out to John Hill @ Gothic Body for his awesome flyer for the event,
our friend for her undying support, her hard work in getting
things organized and for getting all that top notch press coverage!
More thanks to Holly, Brent and the whole gang @ WMSE for their
support, and Bill and Pam @ the Miramar for their very beatiful and
acoustically awesome sounding venue! Still more thank yous to Rich @
Atomic records, Dan and Billy @ Rush Mor, Dave @ Mad City Music, and
Rusty @ Rock Haus And yet more thanks to Brian Miller and his P.A. Co.
for his relentless sound engineering and for making the whole thing
sound killer, and lastly but not least of all thank you to the bands
and all the live music fans who came out to support the local music
scene and rock the city of Milkwaukee for three frickin' days!! This is
your city and your scene after all, we couldnt have done it without
YOU! Decapitado was able to record their blistering set at the Massacre
and hope to release it sometime soon on cd, watch this page for
updates..!!
Decapitado was also able to pull off some other killer shows in March
which include: Big Es' in Edgerton where we jammed with our good
friends the Living Dred, Floating Face Down, new faves Madisons own
Flat Atom, and many many others! Speaking of Madison, Decapitado
enjoyed playing a killer set at the High Noon Saloon along with Birth
of Tragedy and On a Pale Horse whos members include Ex-Slipknot. Thank
you Cathy and her very cool staff at the High Noon Saloon for their pro
yet personable rock skills, making us feel welcome and for throwing
down such a great bill of heavyosity! The band also was able to crank
out what they considered to be their "best set ever" at the Main Stage
in Green Bay as part of "Local Bands That Rawk". other faves that
appeared that night were Living Dred, Krookid and Bevl, among many
others. Bevl hail from Wausau, and we expect/hope to see them again
soon, check out their site @ www.bevl.net Decapitado hopes to repeat
the Green Bay show very soon.....thanks so much to the Main Stage and
staff for being so kind and keeping our glasses full! Also, "thank you"
Destiny for putting it all together!
Other happenings are the Bomblastica for Maximum Ink and their 9 year
anniversary to be held at Mc Auliffes' Pub in Racine. Other bands that
night will include Last Crack, Must, and Carbellion. Decapitado is
anticipating this gig with much zeal as they had to cancel their last
show at Mc Auliffes' 8 months ago.
Decapitado is also in the midst of recording a song for an upcoming
release from OnMilwaukee.com. Watch this page for more details, updates
and track listings as they all become available!Decapitado sold out of
cds at cdbaby.com yet again and has restocked them recently... go, go,
go!! Some recent sales went to the Nederlands, Germany, Italy, Great
Britain and Denmark... can you say "European tour???!"
One last bit of info for you is that Dan recently purchased
www.diekreuzen.com and will start building the site soon. He is now in
the midst of collecting never before seen photos, quotes form the bands
personal tour diaries and posters from across the USA and Europe. Also,
the die kreuzen article by Michael Carriere in Punk Planet issue #66 is
